Problem Note 52486: A SAS/GRAPH® ActiveX Control error occurs during the stand-alone installation of SAS® Enterprise Guide® or SAS® Add-In for Microsoft Office

When you perform a stand-alone installation of SAS Enterprise Guide or SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office on a machine that has a previous release of either of those clients, the installation fails. The following SAS/GRAPH ActiveX Control (32-bit, English) error appears:

Workaround
To prevent this problem from occurring, take the following steps before you perform the installation.
- Access the SASHOME directory of the existing SAS software. Here is a sample path: C:\Program Files\SAS
- Browse further into the installation directory, as in this sample path: C:\Program Files\SAS\SharedFiles(32)\Graph\v9
- Rename or remove the activexgraph_install.xml file.
- Perform the stand-alone installation for SAS Enterprise Guide or SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office 6.1.
Note: Renaming or removing the activexgraph_install.xml file causes no harm or functionality issue with any of the SAS software.
